A painting of a secret waterfall I found in 2020, whilst living in the Rhodopi mountains in Bulgaria. I happened across these secluded waterfalls where I had stopped nearby to meet a friend. I had never been there before, or since. I could hear the water from a distance and was drawn to the sound of its rushing torrents. I set off to search for its source — the person I was meeting was running late, so I suddenly had the time. I was amazed when I found it, hidden away in the forest along a narrow path in the woods. The scene was instantly refreshing and magical. Unexpected and sacred.
The constant flow of water is like the force of life itself, calling me to embrace its power and wonder. To me, the cascading water reflects the awesome power, majesty, and unceasing flow of God's presence. The three levels of falling water remind me of the power of the Holy Trinity — overflowing with Grace. It was like suddenly coming across a beautiful hidden scene, a part of myself I thought was lost. Seeing and hearing this rushing flow of living water was a sudden, abundant outpouring of the Holy Spirit, bringing me deep joy and wonder. Just as water constantly moves and shapes stone over time, the cascading water is like the continual grace of God, washing over my heart, bringing unexpected spiritual refreshment and inner transformation. A scene of renewal and wonder.
This is the first in a series of paintings I plan to paint of these secret waterfalls.

This painting is still fresh and is currently drying in the studio. It is expected to be ready for varnishing and dispatched from 12 October 2026.
