As part of a series of textured impasto original oil paintings of Jesus in a Historically Grounded Realism style. This time he is both the Lamb of God and the shepherd that has found the lost sheep.

About the painting

This painting is part of a series of paintings in honour of Jesus. He is the sacrificial lamb, who did what no one else could, dying voluntarily to redeem us all. In this painting, I wanted Jesus to resemble the image on the Shroud of Turin, the closest reference we have to Him.

I also realise now that I am the sheep that was once lost. I finally heard His call in the darkness and we were reunited. He holds me close, protects and comforts me, as He does for all who are found by Him. When we stay close to Him, held by Him and surrounded by His light and tender love, we can trust in His unconditional love.

Ready to Hang

As framing is a personal choice, please note that all paintings are sold and shipped as unframed, as standard shipping practice for Painted canvases.

This painting features a 2cm gallery-wrap profile and arrives ready to hang, unframed with D-rings and high-quality picture wire on the back of the wooden stretcher bars. The edges are cleanly hand-painted, arriving completely ready to hang on your wall, without a frame.

Framing

If you prefer a framed look, it is perfectly suited for a standard 50 × 60 cm (20 × 24 in) canvas float frame, which can be easily fitted by any local high-street framer. The D-rings can be unscrewed for the purpose of framing.

Reference image

This painting was interpreted from a series of images created with AI (Midjourney), edited in Photoshop. I used Midjourney to explore an image of Jesus as close as possible to the Shroud of Turin.
